Backup your system to external drive with Grsync program
Whether using USB flash drive or external USB hard drive (recommended for larger backup size).
- Use the program Gparted to format the drive as Ext4 format.
- To write to this drive, or create new folders on the drive:
- In the terminal window type: sudo nemo
- Select the drive you formated
- Right-click the drive and select "permissions"
- Change the Owner to your system owner name
- Change the permissions to "read/write"
- Now create any new folders as needed on the drive for your use (ie. backup, data, etc)
- Now to backup to the drive with Grsync program...
- Start the Grsync program
- Select the folder or location on the external drive to backup into
- Set the backup details in the Grsync program you wish to use
- In the Grsync program menu select "File" then when ready "Execute"
