Play Midi music in linux Mint

First you must intall the VLC multimedia player program on your system. You can find this in your package manager or in the newer versions of Linux Mint it should be already in the program list.

Next you need to set up VLC player so that it can read and play midi music.

In your terminal, enter: "sudo apt-get install fluid-soundfont-gs fluid-soundfont.gm".

Next in terminal enter: "sudo apt-get install vlc-plugin-fluidsynth"

Now restart the VLC program

Next "right-click" any one of your midi (.mid) files and choose "Open With:"

Choose "other application" and select VLC media player

Click "set as default" button

Now midi files will play on your linux system using VLC multimedia player program.
